Imagine sitting in your NYC loft and being able to send a big ol' bear hug to your loved one on business in Tokyo. Nominated as one of the best Inventions of 2006 by Time magazine, the Hug Shirt allows you to to do just that - send hugs over long distances. The shirt is a Bluetooth accessory for Java enabled mobile phones and made of washable fabric in a variety of colors. Embedded in the shirt are sensors that feel the strength of the touch, the skin warmth and the heartbeat rate of the sender and actuators that recreate the sensation of touch, warmth and emotion of the hug to the shirt of the distant loved one. The release date of this product is currently undisclosed, but prototypes have been touring tech conferences all over the world for over a year now.
