Google searches track flu spread

There's a lot of potential for Google search terms to be applied in many different early warning contexts for opportunities and threats. Google should not stop at search terms - since that tracks individual web surfing behavior - but incorporate social networking features to tap on wisdom of crowds. Semantic web technology like Twine is attempting such work, but early warning potential remains to be seen. If the language barrier can be overcome, a global monitor would be immensely useful, even as a indicator/guide.
