There has been a lot of interest in Alaska's energy wealth (the Palin effect notwithstanding), both in terms of its resource potential and being "awash with money" in the wake of the oil price crunch. The new research on hydrates deserves monitoring, not least for its role in America's energy future but its impact on climate change concerns (permafrost stability) as well. Does this have impact on Arctic sovereignty as well?
