The advent of the Nintendo Wii, Guitar Hero, and the iPhone/iPod Touch has introduced (or at least emphasized) a new vocabulary around expanded Basic Inputs.
These introduce new gameplay and interface conventions, enabling higher fidelity (and more fun) simulations of kinesthetic activities like tennis and golf. This further reinforces a greater connection to simulated content (the vision of virtual reality a decade earlier).
