In spite of the economic stimulus plan, the U.S. economy will continue to contract. This is inevitable; it is necessary; and it is even desirable. The U.S. economy must contract because it is way too large, in numerous respects. The recession is likely to last many years, at least, until the economy reaches a more natural and sustainable size.
